d30 Feature of the Week: Sage Generator

No, generating a sage doesn't take as long as generating a lich, but not too much less. In the 1e DMG, it can take 7 or 8 rolls, and that's not accounting for the HIGH chance of duplicates while rolling. This d30 Sage Generator limits this to 4 rolls, regardless of the number of the sage's minor fields or specialties in his major field. Best of all, it does it without any duplicates. (To be completely honest, there is a slim chance of a "do over" roll, but it's VERY slim; nothing compared to the 1e DMG's 1 in 10 chance for duplicates EVERY TIME you select another specialty in the sage's major field.)

Regarding the "Ability Score Generation Scales" in the lower right corner of page 2 (yes, this is a 2-pager this week), the sage's class should be chosen to coincide with his fields of specialties (per 1e DMG.) The "slot" scores presented on the chart should be used in conjunction with the "d30 Class Stats Generation Method" tables found here.
