d30 Feature of the Week: Cult Generator

I'm not sure if this week's d30 feature will make it into the d30 Sandbox Companion and, in the end, it may come down to page count. This one produces 2,700 variants of cults based on 1) their leader/or creature they worship, 2) a strange practice of the cult, and 3) the cult's mantra.

  1. I kind of want to use this table to generate strongholds and their rulers for a picaresque Jack Vance style setting. For example, adventurers come across a town ruled by a lamia where everyone speaks in gibberish and believe nobody exists outside of the town ("we are the world").

    25 - 21 - 28.

  2. ("We are the world; we are the cleansers." ... yikes!)

    #4(opposite side): 2 16 45 7 33
    #29: are we?

with some slight modification, you could have a truly chilling counterpart:
    d30 Corporate Culture Generator

  3. @ Brendan - I think your insight that is more than just a cult generator is interesting. It may be worth re-titling it "Strange Stronghold/Cult Concept Generator"

@ Welbo - Why modification? I've been convinced for a while that Target is being run by liches.

  4. I love the Strange Cult Practices. Not so sure about the Mantras . . .
