I was actually going to launch this on Monday. But since Lulu.com is having a 30% OFF sale through the weekend (through April 12 with code APRIL30), I decided to launch early so everyone could get in on the savings and not say on Monday they'd wished I'd release this on Friday.
Since I'm going to be deeply discounting the price of both the print and PDF versions of the book (plus the headache of trying to track Lulu orders), PDFs and print copies will need to be purchased separately. I will not be offering sales through the New Big Dragon storefront until after the NTRPGCon (mid-June).
The "retail" price for the print copy through Lulu.com is $10.65, but that's marked down by 25%, bringing the price to $7.99. On top of that, Lulu is giving 30% OFF with the code APRIL30.
The "retail" price of the PDF at RPGNow is $5.95, but is discounted 65% off bringing the price to $2!!!
PLEASE NOTE!!! Because I'm releasing this early, the PDF copy will not have digital bookmarks or internal hotlinks yet!!! I will provide an updated version on Monday with those features added.
That means you can get the print and PDF copies for less than 10 bucks total.
Seems like a helluva deal to me.

Well, I for one am going to wait until you sell it through your own site so that you get to keep more of the cash.
ReplyDeletePrint copy purchased!
ReplyDeleteThe only thing I don't like is the cover, but it's just a personal preference of lighter colored covers. I put up a recommendation ASAP for folks to go out and get this.
ReplyDeleteMy initial thoughts after a quick glance-through: impressive!
Thanks. Understood about the cover. After working with my local printer (particularly on previous projects like the d30 Companions), the darker colors are actually more forgiving when it comes to digital printing. (Lighter colors have a tendency to create unintentional "speckle" patterns.) That's not necessarily the case across the board, but from his general experience.
DeleteJust bought the print!
ReplyDeleteExcellent Richard. My eyes has been twitching for this one.
ReplyDeleteI see Napoleon Dynamite would like page 41.
ReplyDeleteActually, that's one of the older entries, having originally appeared on this blog in January of 2012: http://savevsdragon.blogspot.com/2012/01/new-monsterillustration-of-week-liger.html
DeleteEager to get my hands on this! Print copy ordered.
ReplyDeleteVery cool! I must ask, after this and Expanded Petty Gods, what is next in the pipeline from New Big Dragon?
ReplyDeleteBasic Psionics Handbook, and BX/LL animal classes book.
DeleteAnd, at some point in the future, Creature Compendium II. It's little more than an idea, a short wish list of possible monsters, and a handful of illustrations. And it's WAY down on the "to do" list. It will likely be sometime in 2016 before it will be released.
DeletePDF and print ordered. Fantastic Richard! I'm looking forward to this. I recently switched to Savage Worlds as my preferred RPG but I love stuff like this to convert. I also hope to see you at NTRPG Con so you can sign my print copy.
ReplyDeleteBTW, any more word on the release of Expanded Petty Gods? Another one that's on my must-buy list (not the least of which is I have artwork in it). :D
EPG Update: Coordinating on final proofing and illustration needs today. Hoping for a release around weekend of May 8.
DeleteThis is soo Great, I also ordered the PDF and Print copies, but what about "ASSAULT AGAINST THE MENACE ON THE MOUNTAIN" and the others that are listed as 'Under Development'?
ReplyDelete"Assault" was actually released then pulled. (It had some issues that needing resolving.) I've got some thoughts for fixing it, but have not been able to concentrate on it. The original version is now (as far as I'm concerned) a "collector's item" (as it will never appear in that edition). A newer "Expanded & Revised Edition" will be coming (likely later this year or early next year). It will look almost the same as the original, only it will have another 4-8 pages of interior content, and the cover will feature a "revised/expanded" snipe of some sort.
DeleteAs for the others, some progress has been made on all of them, particularly "Kadmos" which I'm hoping to run a couple of times at NTRPGCon (first week in June), and release later this summer. Foxpond has gone through a major conceptual overhaul, and make it a little more "open" as a module. Welbo and I worked to rewrite the story and setting, and both feel good about the overall notes, but it has not been fleshed out yet (which really has to happen before playing it). Again, it's going to be on a similar schedule to Assault (really depends on how many groups I think I run simultaneously later this year).
Saw plenty of cryptids, but no Jersey Devil???
ReplyDeleteBummer... Or is it just renamed in this product???
And what is this forthcoming 'animal classes' for B/X, exactly? Sounds intriguing...
ReplyDeleteThis search string should bring up most of my posts related to the intelligent animal classes for B/X and Labyrinth Lord:

When will this be available from the NBD storefront? I've had some bad experiences with Lulu.com lately.
